Teen Patti hands are ranked from strongest to weakest, and knowing this order is the first thing any new player needs to learn before sitting at a table. The ranking order is fixed across most standard variants, though wild-card formats can shift the math.

The strongest hand is a trail, sometimes called a set, three cards of the same rank, such as three nines. Below that is a pure sequence, three consecutive cards of the same suit, like 4-5-6 of spades. A sequence, sometimes called a run, is three consecutive cards across different suits, such as 4 of spades, 5 of hearts, and 6 of clubs, the same numerical order as a pure sequence but without the suit match.

Below a sequence is a colour, three cards of the same suit that are not in consecutive order. A pair comes next, two cards of matching rank plus one unrelated card. The weakest hand is a high card, where none of the above combinations apply, and the hand is judged by its highest-ranking individual card.

A detail that trips up new players is the gap between a pure sequence and a regular sequence. Both contain three consecutive cards, but only the suited version counts as a pure sequence and ranks higher. Mixing up the two when comparing hands at the table is one of the most common beginner mistakes. Teen Patti Guru displays the active hand ranking on screen during each round, which is a useful reference while you're still memorising the order.

Some app variants introduce wild cards or joker rules that can change which hand wins a particular round, so the ranking order above reflects the standard format. Always confirm the active rule set on the table screen before you begin, since the app may be running a variant rather than the classic format.

This guide is for general educational purposes and reflects standard Teen Patti rules. Specific apps may implement minor rule variations.
